Decoration medal in gilt silver of the Battle of the 5th of May, 1862, engraved by S. Navalon, which commemorates one of the most celebrated feats in Mexican history.

On May 5, 1862, the Mexican army under General Ignacio Zaragoza defeated at Puebla the French forces, then considered the best in the world. Although the victory did not definitively stop the French Intervention, it had enormous moral value and became a symbol of national resistance against the invader.
