The 12 Official 2026 World Cup Coins

There are 12 official coins minted by Banxico (Mexico's central bank), organized into 3 families: 4 bimetallic 20-peso coins (standard strike, twelve-sided, 30 mm, 12.67 g, in circulation), 4 pure .999 silver coins (1 troy ounce, 40 mm, mirror finish) and 4 pure .999 gold coins (1/4 troy ounce, 23 mm, mirror finish). Each family has four designs: Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey and the generic Mexico (jaguar, soccer ball and monarch butterflies).

Banxico officially announced the bimetallic coins on May 13, 2026 and public circulation begins Monday, May 18, 2026. You can receive them in change at Oxxo stores, at banks, or request official bags at Casa de Moneda (the Mexican mint) branches. The silver and gold versions are distributed separately through Casa de Moneda and authorized distributors (Multiva among them).
